Kutosis party

Tonight’s line up sees Kutosis and Samoans back in tandem, to read a live review I wrote about both bands when they played together in Dempseys, go HERE.

Kutosis

Kutosis have recently slimmed down to a 3 piece and are fitter and healthier for it.  Their brand of firey punk always works brilliantly live and this is essentially a home gig for the boys before they go on to play Reading and Leeds Festivals.

“Kutosis’ debut single gobs in our faces with angular snorting punk-pop”

Buzz magazine review of Vultures

“I think I might get the train to Cardiff … Genius”

6Music’s Tom Robinson on Barbie Hips

“Angular and angry from the get-go … killer hooks and a confrontational attitude”
Planet Sound

“Best opening lines in the business”
Radio 1’s Bethan Elfyn

Samoans

Originally formed under the name ‘Scissorkick Victory’, the band established themselves as unique amongst the scene. The band was started by Daniel Barnett (also of Circa Regna Tonat), who enlisted Calvin Ley to play bass and Todd Campbell to play drums to the songs he had written as what was initially a side-project. Furious rehearsing and song-writing ensued, which lead to support slots with Red Light Company, The Airborne Toxic Event and The Xcerts. Next came a change of name, to ‘Samoans’, which proved to be Todd’s last contribution to the band. Todd decided he could not continue with the band and left in early 2009, leaving the door open for Tal.

The new alliance forged a new direction, and a new demo was swiftly recorded with Romesh Dodangoda at Longwave Studios, the birthplace of many bands. The four tracks recorded have brought the band much attention already, from the hailings of “WOW! How heavey was that!” by Bethan Elfyn on National Radio 1 to being included on the Punktastic Unscene 5 compilation. With a mixture of the technical and the anthemic, the band are a serious force to be reckoned with and hold no quarter in a live environment.

Lt. Meat

I sent Dave Lt Meat a questionnaire at the end of last year to sum up his 2008, Dave ignored the questions and stated that he enjoyed my ‘hat and beard’ and ‘ also liked Branstons Baked Beans, H2O and softcore porn on Virgin1 after 11pm.’.

He also hates cats, children, TV and the modern world. I like dogs, water and the futuristic city of ‘TOMORROWS WORLD’.

Start – 8pm
Bring your own beer.  To find out the exact location of the gig, contact the band through their Facebook page HERE or hang about in the Royal Oak pub from about 7pm!!
