GRAVEYARD JOHNNYS

Graveyard Johnnys are a hard hitting, high energy, international rockabilly machine fuelled with the firepower of early punkrock. Described by BBC Introducing’s Bethan Elfyn as “My new favourite band” and regularly played on the Radio1 Punk Show, the boys have toured extensively all over the UK and Europe playing everywhere from sold out arenas in Germany to falling down pig pens in Rhyl. Catch them before they explode in your face.

JOY OF SEX

Joy of Sex, a very angular trio that use bass, guitar, drum machine, inventive lyrics, forward thinking, random drum bits & things to hit.

“the best slice of experimental ear-sex you’ll ever be subjected to” “spiky, minimalist, arty”  “tunes of plenty” “a tonic that should come in a wraparound sleeved 7inch” “one of the most intriguing propositions to emerge from the Welsh capital for some time” “a wired, boggle-eyed take on the fuzzily taut Pixies/Wire dynamic with criss-crossing vocals, wrecked song structures and seeming stream of conscious while still meaningful lyrics” “they spank a spot weld harder than a fruit bat” “Whether you are old enough to have listened to Peel in the early 80s or simply feel he was a bench mark for music appreciation you should and WILL love Joy Of Sex” “They make a fine racket, skeletal but muscular, minimal, crisp noise driven forward two minutes at a time.” “Delightfully wicked and sarcastic. Great in every single way” “Stupidly good looking and cool”

Have been compared to: Wire, Young Marble Giants, The Fall, Talking Heads, Mclusky, Devo, Art Brut, Shooting At Unarmed Men, Pavement, Prinzhorn Dance School, Hot Club De Paris, Pixies, Dischord, The Strokes, Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg, Bloc Party, Kyuss, Chorchazade

THE BROWNIES

The Brownies are not the sort of animal you freely pat, if you want to keep all of your fingers! Firmly established as one of Norwich’s top break-out bands. Their debut release ‘Means To An End’ was named single of the week in The Guardian and has recieved airplay and high praise from the BBC’s Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens.

A session at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios and being selected by Skins producer Alex Hancock to play the regional leg of the live tour in 2008 have all since helped raise the bands profile. Signed to East Anglian independant NR ONE RECORDS the group continue to impress all those who witness their energetic brand of punk pop. More recently, the band has finished recording their debut album ‘Ourknife Yourback’ with grammy award nominated Andy Gill (Gang of Four) and Subways/Big Life producer Jon Gray.

“The tag ‘pop punk’ for one generation at least always conjure up images of Blink 182 and Sum 41, yet the type of pop punk that The Brownies juggle up is far removed from this. Its shouty-faced pop punk thats packed with Riot Grrrrl’s bite, and been trapped under an avalanche of glowing pop hooks on the escape. Some bands would bite off their spouses fingers to have one song as good as ‘Cougar’; The Brownies deliver an energetic entire sets worth. Norwich may have given us Kaito and Bearsuit, but that city has now given us another batch of delightful ear candy which those missing Be Your Own Pet should get extremely excited about.”Artrocker

“The Brownies could be Xerox Girls’ attitudinal, imperiously cool nieces and nephews. Brillianty out of step with current modish trends, full of heart-in-mouth moments and a hatred so finely tuned its almost sexy.” The Guardian
