glcThis is primarily a Newports website so I’m going to credit you all with knowing who Goldie Lookin’ Chain are. Many of you will know that they got signed without bothering to try, recorded a couple of albums for Atlantic and then predictably got dropped when their comedy hip hop failed to make millions of pounds for the label. Aside from being able to now shop in H Samuel instead of Argos and upgrading their brand of shellsuit, this rollercoaster ride hasn’t changed the GLC in the slightest.

The band are still a hyperactive blur of man made fabric, there’s still about a thousand of them and they’re still hilarious. If you’ve not seen them live in a while then go and make the effort. New album Asbo 4 Life actually has a more danceable feel to it without losing any of the chavvy Newport humour of yore.

With no Welsh date on this tour, you’re going to have to treck over the Severn Bridge to watch the boys play on a boat in Bristol’s mud dock. You knows it’ll be worth it.
