Recorded music highlights of 2008?
um.
emmy the great – almost had a baby is one i had on repeat and repeat and repeat for a while.
fight like apes – jake summers – i think they’re pretty amazing and don’t have verses/choruses so much as just keep on going one higher every time they get to a new bit….and i like the way she sounds like a cranberry who’s joined a punk band.

Live music highlights of 2008?
Well Fight Like Apes are pretty amazing and mischievious and seem to destroy with a kind of joyous love…Also King Khan And The Shrine were pretty excellent last week – and even though they’ve been going for years they’ve been picked up by Vice so suddenly the kids love them…Betty & The Werewolves are good in a bouncy bouncy bouncy punky poppy split-face grin way…Kasms are good in a small child turned to the dark sort of way. Like the Exorcist turned into a half hour musical set on a grimy stage.

2008 was…?
hm. had a lot of promise that didn’t quite kick off. Too many bands from Brooklyn though fair enough most of them seemed to be automatically excellent. Too many half-arsed festivals! Put your fucking muddy field away madam!

2009 will be…?
well – the fact that i’ve been made redundant in mind and there is darkness all around….It will either be the most upbeat crazed thingy of brightness popwise ever or it will all be like the bits of New Orleans funeral bands where they play downbeat before the swing kicks off…but the swing will never kick off…Also lookout for the all-new adventures of The Fog Band and The PantherGirls band and the Magic Diamonds!
