Carl DJs and blogs a fine blog over at http://www.quixoticquisling.com – you may also have seen him gallivanting on various uncomprehending TV shows, promoting the Sleeveface book, of which he is co-author. Answers now:

Recorded music highlights of 2008:
Portishead – Third (Island)
I was expecting this to be a bumsuck letdown after the long wait. But actually a rather terrific LP!

Truckers Of Husk – Physical Education EP (My Kung Fu)
This was the perfect debut for the marvellous Truckers Of Husk. And on a personal note, working with them was a fitting way to end my time at My Kung Fu label.

I enjoyed various bleepy things on 12″ by a guy called Zomby. In general, many and various subgenres of hip-hop and electronica with silly names like wonky and skweee.

Live music highlights of 2008:
Julian Cope sacrificing a guitar, ha ha ha

Not really “live” live but watching Maurizio and Peverelist play dub in Bristol at what turned out, alas, to be the last Venn festival.

What else did you enjoy this year?
Barack Obama’s yearbook photo, being tight with Barack Obama on Twitter, various mash-ups, rickrolls and internet fun involving Obama. Popular mathematician Marcus du Sautoy! Sŵn festival in Cardiff. Sleeveface.

2008 was…
A leap year.

2009 will be…
Hopefully quite fun, if civilisation can avoid doing a Woolworths.
