Anne and Helen put on ridiculously good gigs in Cardiff under the name of PeppermintPatti. Usually in Chapter, they only feature bands with female members in them, and have put on some of favourite shows ever. Here are their answers:

Live musical highlights of 2008:
Girls Aloud at CIA (second time); Bjork (Wolverhampton Civic); Amanda Palmer (Bristol Thekla); Das Wanderlust (Loose/Family gig); Lots of Green Man – highlights Alela Diane; Nina Nastasia; The Accidental; SŴN: Agaskodo Teliverek; Joy Formidable; Rachel Unthank and the Winterset (St David’s Centre) and finally (if we’re allowed) some of our gigs: Wet Dog; Kania Tieffer; Kaputt

Recorded musical highlights of 2008:
Wet Dog ‘Enterprise Reversal’; Portishead ‘3rd’; The Breeders ‘Mountain Battles’; Thalia Zedek Band ‘Liars & Prayers’; Marnie Stern ‘This Is It And I Am It And You Are It And So Is That and He Is It And She Is It And It Is It And That Is That’; Gang Gang Dance ‘Saint Dymphna’; Evangelista ‘Hello Voyager’ & tracks 1,2,4,6,8,9 & 11 of Girls Aloud’s ‘Out of Control’.

Some tracks we loved: Hercules & Love Affair: ‘Blind’, Uh Huh Her: ‘Say So’; Lykke Li: ‘Little Bit’, Telepathe: ‘Chrome’s On It’ which we love a lot & Little Boots: ‘Stuck on Repeat’ – obvious maybe but along with Girls Aloud’s ‘The Loving Kind’ (which is another one!) they are just perfect pop, which we think is the point of tracks of the year.

What else did you enjoy?
Marcie (whippet) joining our family; Huxley (whippet) surviving cancer (against all odds); Kristin Hersh – Paradoxical Undressing – not quite music, not quite performance but something quite magical. Sitting in front of our wood-burning stove watching crap Saturday night TV with friends for 14 weeks on the trot. Discovering Dandelion radio.

2008 Was:
Confusing

2009 will be:
Broke!
