Clean lines, leading to fuzziness. Lots of reasons to leave the house for this. A nice booking for Cardiff’s ThingsMakeElectric (do they really have to leave the spaces out? Grr.), whose spindly, whooshing take on gently, gently post rock and Stereolab space noodling has been floating around for a little while now. Fine support too: Sam Jones and his cracked voice come together for excellently slanted acoustic numbers as The Balky Mule, while Motes is the exciting new project that former or current members of Headfall, Line and Soeza are cooking up. Ever heard ‘They Took Great Proud In Their Work’ by Line? I’ll do you a copy.

THE BALKY MULE is Bristol’s own master of skewed, gently humourous visions on Fat Cat records – like Ray Davies singing Richard Brautigan poems.

MOTES play minimal queasy songs,a trio of xylophone guitar and drums. Folk from Headfall, Soeza and Line.
