Yeah, repeated letters, misspellings, altered visions – all that stuff. The Rusty Trombone Of God (plain Rusty to close friends) live to tweak that part of your brain responsible for processing and determining that heavy psychotropic sounds are a good and healthy thing. This is a pretty playful puppy of a gig by their standards though (check out the upcoming Primordial Undermind show on the 24th for a heroic four band dose of muggy soundwaves), even featuring acts that up the BPM towards vaguely dancable mania. Both Portlanders ASSS and dervish-like Londoner Monika Krol (aka MEDDICINE) make diseased throbs of electronic fuckery that will make the Undertone air thick with machine crackle, and lead to dark, head-nodding bliss out. JAMIE THOMAS is your wild card Bristolian. Compared to The Books? Well, that’s fine too. Those in the know say: VIBEY.
ASSS
Portland duo Asss claim to sound like the Smiths, but with only drums and oscillators. I hear tribal, psychogenic scuzz-pop.
MEDDICINE
Meddicine filters echoes of Throbbing Gristle and Suicide through a wire mesh until a brutal, messed up, and danceable, electro vibe takes hold.
JAMIE THOMAS
Glitchy electronica from Newport/Bristol with hints of The Books and Lucky Dragons
