Yep, we’re putting on a gig and it’s going to be ace. Le Reno Amps played a show for Joy in September 2007, they’d not long released their last album, the drove from Glasgow and back for the gig and they were fucking ace. They had such a blast that they wanted to come back.

The new album Tear It Open was released last week and sounds more like the band’s live show than So For Your Thrills… More upbeat and punky it flies from one musical genre to another. Opener Outlaws is a rockabilly stomp, third track You Do Your Thing could be lifted straight from ‘Out Of Time’ and closer The Gilded Road wouldn’t sound amiss if it were covered by Foo Fighters. In between the ping pong around Violent Femmes, Pixies and Weezer.

They’re a fantasic live band and well worth venturing out on a Thursday and spending 4 of you hard earned pounds on.

Support comes from…

King Alexander
Cardiff’s post-punk-art-rock mainstays grace the Joy stage for a second time having previously played with kindred spirits Heck. Laura’s sweet vocals mix with Simon’s crazed yelping to create an deranged off kilter indie rock flavoured stew. That makes no sense. Just come and see them.

Cottonmouth Rocks
Le Reno Amp’s Drift Record labelmates are a boy/girl dirty sounding rock n roll band that should always be wearing leather jackets. Think of The Kills, scruffy harmonies and you won’t be going far wrong.

Lil Deaths
Hometown boys bring more angular rock to the party, influenced by Rueben and Biffy Clyro but a lot poopier, they’ve been described as ‘An expolsion of indie pop that hits you in the face like a rocket shot out of a drainpipe!’. Quality.

Tickets are 3 quid from Diverse or Spillers or £4 on the night and it all kicks off at 8pm.
