Well done Loose, this is the best line up I’ve seen in ages! I urge everyone to get down to Buffalo and check it out.

Over the course of four records and countless full throttle live performances, Los Angeles band THE MAE SHI have showcased a penchant for joyously unhinged punktronica.

Their 2004 debut album Terrorbird, was a lunatic laugh of a record, its sound and subject matter taking us to realms far beyond the conventional. Populated by the most bizarre subjects; vampires, ergot poisoning in the Middle Ages, werewolves and dolphins in the military..their lyrical tales of the unexpected were matched in oddness only by the music – exceedingly short one to two minute tracks crammed full of anarchic electronics, renegade guitar and vandal rhythms.

With each subsequent release The Mae-Shi have continued to evolve and exhilarate. Flirting with pop conventions, their 2008 biblical concept album HLLLYH has proven an artistic milestone for the band and has seen them bestowed with critical accolades from some of the foremost names in the music media. – http://iheartau.com/features/au-meets-the-mae-shi/

ABE VIGODA is the new LA punk secret weapon. Coming from a shattered and splattered background of No Wave, Pop, Darkness, and Hope, ABE VIGODA brings forth an entirely new sound that is both temptingly beautiful and melodically and tropical.

Their first full length album SKELETON is a twisted joy ride through the four boys’ private party. Soothing parts are reminiscent of Captain Beefheart and My Bloody Valentine, while a haunting Reggaeton pulse makes you want to move.

Since 2004, their sound has transpired into many different styles and shapes, leaving them with a unique take on punk and its various states of attitude.

Having previously released several singles, two full lengths, cassettes and more, Skeleton captures the boys honing in on an amazing direction with a bit of dream-like ambience that seams through entire songs, a beat that drives the listener into their world, and vocals that are underneath the music as much as they are on top of it.

I saw CATS IN PARIS at Swn festival, I thought they were great, I think Saesneg coined the phrase ‘Speed Twee’ in his Twitter post. Cheerful indie pop dashed with a heavy dose of keyboards at 300 jangles a minute. Sort of like a less frenetic Bearsuit. Girl/boy vocals, lots of keyboards, a bit of violin and a bassist that may well have been kidnapped and bundled out of a van straight on to the stage. He looked totally baffled by everything and didn’t seem to know where he was. This was incredibly funny after a few beers
