I was going to try and write something myself for this but what’s the point when you can just lift a funny and informative write up from a facebook event page…

“Sundays are rubbish, I hate them, holed up in my sordid little grief den worrying about things I may or may not have said to someone the night before.” – Felicity Kendal

Not anymore, from the 24th of May onwards Gwdihw Café Bar will be open every Sunday giving you then chance to come in, put your feet up, eat foods, drink boozes and tell everyone you meant everything you said the night before, even the thing about that magician when you were younger.

To celebrate this rebranding and reimagining of one of the the most mundane days of the week Gwdihw has organised a micro festival to entertain you throughout this new and exiting Sunday experience.

During the day a cavalcade of Cardiff’s finest chanters and chanteuses will keep you cooing with a constant stream of musical wonder whilst the DIG! DJ’s serve up a eight course meal of psych, rock, kraut, funk, soul, glam, not forgetting some pop for pudding.

Come night time Guto Pryce, bass enthusiast and cheese connoisseur of the Super Furry Animals will be taking over the decks and playing his ALL TIME TOP 100 tunes. Unexpect the expected and set sail with Guto in his one way golden boat to Pleasure Island aka Barry.

As if that wasn’t enough, Cardiff’s very own Artisan brewery will be setting up shop in the garden with a brand new beer and a big shiny draft tap to pour it through as Duncan Gwdihw roasts a dead pig on a spit until it tastes like heaven. If you don’t like meat there will be a veritable pile of veggie delights to keep your little tails wagging.

Bands from 2.30pm

Fredrick Stanley Star
H.Hawkline
Race Horses Acoustic
The Gentle Good
Lyndsey Leven
Alex Dingley
Sweet Baboo
Richard James
Cate Le Bon

Basically everyone who’s anyone in Cardiff’s folky type music scene is involved in this. It’s bank holiday weekend, I suggest you go see Anathallo on Friday, Woodpigeon Saturday night, drink right through to the start of this, get some food, watch bands all day, have a few hours sleep, watch a bit of football and end the weekend with Future Of The Left. Just an idea like.
