If there was an award amongst post rock bands for the grandest, stateliest, most pure proponent of the form, then Mono would be a good bet to accept the flawless glass trophy. Their instrumental monumentalism is awesomely clean and stark, filled with the usual quiet/loud/fucking loud guitar dynamics you’d expect, but swaddled in a creepy stillness more to do with minimalist composition that riff worship. Flirtations with the more, uh, refined end of this spectrum have resulted in gigs with entire orchestras (and the London date of the tour will continue this); this Fleece gig will be a fairly intimate, breath-held gathering for the band, who rage on in the coldest way possible. Don’t miss.

MONO:
Blurring the boundary between art-metal and neo-classical, Japanese post-rockers MONO hailing from Tokyo, have long established themselves as the leading voice of epic majestic noise. For over 12 years in fact. Their instrumental compositions are powerful, sweeping studies in the limits of the musical spectrum; from rumbling subsonic lows to dizzying harmonic highs.

Over the years, they have developed their vast and beautiful noise into something entirely majestic. Their colossal orchestrations often incorporate strings, flutes, organ, piano, glockenspiel and tymphani as well as guitar and drums, balancing all elements masterfully with each new release and live performance.
