The DIY heroes in this case are the excellent and good looking noiseniks from the Jelas and (natch) at the top of the bill are No Babies, the frantic, mental, sax/clarinet/angry guitar and drums bastards. Hunt them online. Start salivating. They will make you feel like all your pores are open and that any trouble you have in life has been reduced to the size of microdot, viewed from another planet. No Babies play Cardiff on the 24th too (more details shortly); true heads will see both gigs, then become God.
NO BABIES is a five piece friend army from Oakland, California. Since forming in 2008, they’ve worked tirelessly to develop a unique ‘new punk’ sound influenced by jazz, art music and hardcore, not unlike Old Skull playing Schoenberg, while Magma heckles from the audience. No Babies chooses to eschew the effects-drenched 60s garage cult of worship for an aggressive, hyper-present and harmonically dense sound that is playful as it is relentless. You might run for cover as guitars, saxophones, drums or even whole band members whiz past yourhead in frantic childlike spasms of terror and joy, or choose to meet the nervous fury head on, and join in the churning bodily mayhem yourself. THE PERVERTS are a guitarist, drum machine and singer called the Screaming Son who has patented dance moves. Playing a spazzcore industrial nofi mess guaranteed to wake up the coma ward at the local hospital.
