vbsCelebrating the long-awaited release of ‘The Voluntary Butler Scheme At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea’, the debut album by Rob Jones, a 23-year-old pop prodigy.

Three singles to date, ‘Trading Things In’, ‘Multiplayer’ and ‘Tabasco Sole’ have blended The Jackson 5 and classic Motown to an instinctual, home-made aesthetic.

The album was recorded in a studio in Stockwell with Charlie Francis, known for his work with REM and the High Llamas, and a handful of guest musicians.

This is a ‘solo’ show, as Rob is insistent right now that The Voluntary Butler Scheme is ‘him, and only him’ – but in Rob’s case that obviously means piano, guitar, drums and synth.

“Infectious and charming, one-man-band Rob Jones is like a mix of Badly Drawn Boy and Brian Wilson’s more acid-fried work” – Q

“Bubblegum, call-and-response Motown, manufactured in the Midlands and as sweet as candy” – The Sunday Times
