Late plug for this, but highly recommended nonetheless.  GOLD PANDA recently capped an excellent twelve months since his Swn Festival appearance with the release of Lucky Shiner, a playful, charming and boundlessly eclectic full-length debut.  In places stuttering, glitchy electronica, glacial pseudo-house and magpie exotica, it recalls a more compact and streamlined Four Tet.  Live, his set builds from Fennesz-style crackle and drone through skittering electro to gloriously accessible dancefloor fun.  Smiles all round.

BANJO OR FREAKOUT, fact fans, played the last Forecast gig before Cardiff’s once unimpeachable booking kings went their separate ways.  He also supported Times New Viking the last time they blew through here.  On record his droney, electro-acoustic pop charms in ways reminiscent of Disco Inferno or Bark Psychosis, if you’re old and tragic like me; if not, take it as a thumbs-up and do some research.

This is cheap.  It’s a Friday night.  Off you go.

NNTS returns with one of the fav acts GOLD PANDA. With his new album out GP returns to NNTS for a night with his beautiful take on Glitch Hop.

GOLD PANDA

Hailing from Chelmsford, Essex, Gold Panda spent the early part of last year building a reputation as remixer du jour for the likes of Little Boots, Telepathe, Bloc Party, Simian Mobile Disco, Health and The Field, before releasing three EPs of his own material in the summer to huge critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, Dazed and Confused, The Guardian, NME and beyond. Live performances soon followed and his invigorated head hunched style quickly won further fans as well as establishing him as an artist who could play live rather than just prod at an expensive laptop.

BANJO OR FREAKOUT

Banjo Or Freakout is Alessio Natalizia. He hails from Vasto, Italy but relocated to London, United Kingdom in 2008. Banjo or Freakout released 3 singles/eps in 2009 on Uk labels No Pain In Pop and Half Machine and will release his first album before the end of 2010.

The next record from Banjo or Freakout will come out on Way Slow. From Way Slow: Way Slow is a new series curated by Lefse Records and Houses. While maintaining the basic structures of a formal record label, we are embracing creativity in everything from artist sound to packaging. Each release will be a unique creation from start to finish. Many of our artists are going to be releasing material that is well outside of their normal sound, some will be collaborations, some will be from parts of the world where most of us will never see. Alongside digital downloads, we will be offering limited edition cd’s, cassettes, and even vinyl in some cases. Our physical products will be hand wrapped/sewn/carved/ individually for every release and presented as a heartwarming package of beautiful sound.
