Can I be frank with you? I’m currently having the worst day ever, and the only thing sustaining me through the hours is the thought of all these people being swept away by giant poisonous waves of acid sludge, their faces slowly melting into their lukewarm tears. You probably didn’t want to know that, but (here we go) the same overwhelming urge for sensory obliteration can be sated in VERY NOISY MUSIC, something which, usefully, Italian band Ufomammut can provide. Their heavy heavy racket has been described as “psychedelic doom”, which means guitar widdling at crushing volume and high concept repetition taken towards the stratosphere. Get to the front, and have a look at some of the other line-ups Burial Chamber have upcoming – Yob, Monarch, a Dissonance all dayer and Acid Mothers Temple in frigging Bridgend. This is what you’re up against.
