Bear Hands JC

Usually when doing these previews I’ll see I gig I like and nick the bulk of the preview from Myspace/Facebook/Press Release and this is no different but I just wanted to say in my little intro that this should be fucking ace.  A friend mentioned Bear Hands to me and I checked out their Myspace and loved every song.  I heartily recommend that you do the same and then come to this gig on Friday night.

Bear Hands:
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Bear Hands play a dark, melodic brand of indie with a hint of punk-rock. The band combine spiky, angular rhythm guitar and sparse, mechanical drums with lush, ambient lead guitar lines to build up a rich wall of contrasting textures. Sonically exciting and lyrically adept runnig along same lines as Les Savy Fav, Bear Hands deserve to be heard. The band have already completed a full UK tour with Hockey and Passion Pit and are now readying themselves for performances at this years Leeds / Reading festivals. Recommended.

Man Without Country:
Men Without Country? Perhaps. The music of this band is far from what one might assume with the current South Wales music scene but this in itself is one of the band’s fortes, as it takes real determination and vision to be innovative in music. “Man Without Country are THE local band to keep an eye on in 2008, so if you are part of the aforementioned pretentious indie clique, you might want to invest in this band ASAP for extra cool points within the skinny jeans and tight top massive.” Altsounds.com

By this, I think the good people of Barfly are trying to say that Mike TV is no more.  Since he’s been there every weekend since the place opened I think this is probably a decent plan.  Round of applause for Bafly’s new regime.
