Well hey, you know how our usual gig listings shine a FULL POWER torch over the next few months? So you can see whether that Hungarian jazz show clashes with the Bentley Rhythm Ace reunion tour? Well, it’s down for a change of batteries, and will be back very soon. So allow us a little moment to remind you that there are some real scorchers coming soon, so that you can write them in your diaries like contrite children. And this is just March. What are you excited about? Drop us a line.

QU Junktions continue to bring Bristol treats to the undeserving. Always keep a peeled eye on their website; in March they will bust out a Haiti Kids Kino charity double venue gig featuring John Parish, Zun Zun Egui and a zilloid more (6th), and after that, the pretty tempting pairing of Four Tet with Nathan Fake at the Fiddlers (20th). If you prefer swish dubstep, Flying Lotus will be in Bristol’s Thekla on the 15th.

Sad news in Cardiff: after many years of deceptively cute pop, Little My are soon to be no more. Their final gig is a death-themed night at Ten Feet Tall on the 9th. You’re allowed to cry. In semi-related news, the long awaited debut album by ace purveyors of heartbreak tunes the School is almost ready to drop; a launch party gig will take over Clwb Ifor Bach on the 6th, also featuring Allo Darlin’ and Pagan Wanderer Lu. And the new LP by stalwart of lush troubadour-ing Spencer McGarry will be played in its entirety in Cardiff’s Chapter on the 19th – watch out for his band the Season to be swelled with a thousand extra players.

More Bristol guitar dudes: the superb Archie Bronson Outfit will skronk your brain with their sax-addled garage at the Thekla (30th), while the Jim Jones Revue will do similar in the same venue on the 23rd (they also play Cardiff in April). Invada Records curate a night at the Louisiana (11th) with mystery riffers White Hills, while noodly, sometimes-awesome rockers Islands may well implode onstage at the Thekla (27th).

Wildcards: Chris Brokaw used to be in Codeine and Come and will get worshipped by slowcore fans at Cardiff’s noisiest venue the Buffalo thanks to ultradecent promoters Lesson#1 (27th – get there early for local wunderlooper Ratatosk and please shut the fuck up); great hushed improviser on Constellation Records Eric Chenaux hopefully atones for cancelling his tour last year by playing Buffalo on the 10th (supporting are Dead Rat Orchestra who it is promised will play the whole venue as a sound source – yowsa!); forest weirdo Cate Le Bon will keep the twisted spirit of Nico alive at the Lousiana (12th); and if you’ve read this far you probably deserve an eight-piece live Afrobeat band in your face – if you go to the Cardiff Arts Institute on the 12th you get JUST THAT. Do let us know how it goes.
