FRANK TURNER kick starts the new year with the release of his single ‘Reasons Not To Be An Idiot’ on 12th January 2009 through Xtra Mile Recordings.
A firm live favourite at all Frank gigs, ‘Reasons…’ has had fans up and down the country sing along to every word and dance around like crazed fools all year long. Its uplifting choruses, catchy melodies and up-tempo country pace will brighten up even the darkest mid-winter days.

The single precedes some exciting touring news to get 2009 off with a bang. With a set at the Eurosonic Festival and a few re-scheduled dates lined up for January, Frank will join New Jersey punk rockers The Gaslight Anthem on their huge UK and European tour throughout February and March taking in an NME show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 8th February 09.

2008 has been a pivotal year for Frank. It began with the release of Love Ire & Song in March, saw him play 23 festivals over the summer including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk and Reading and Leeds and tour Europe and the States extensively. He went on to sell out his biggest headline tour to date including a 950 strong crowd at London’s Scala; be honoured with two Radio 1 Record Of The Weeks for the single ‘Long Live The Queen’ and will release his album The First Three Years, a collection of early and previously unreleased material, live tracks and b-sides. The First Three Years will be exclusively released on 1st December through the Xtra Mile Recordings website for a limited period; then from 19th January 2009 it will be available as a bonus disc with Love Ire & Song.

Frank will be bringing this incredible year to a close with a one-off Christmas gig at Camden’s Proud Galleries venue on 19th December. In conjunction with new London promoters Lexapalooza Presents…money raised at the gig will be donated to the charity Shelter.
