Set the controls for the heart of the squiggle! Quack Quack may have a Kraut-y base but they’re way too awkward to simply lock into a ten-minute groove. They sprinkle weird shavings of jazz, pop and other skronk over everything, jinking all playfully and cutely like a hexagonal puppy. They also feature members of Chops, Bilge Pump and other Leeds heroes who should be on stamps. Fine support and a beautiful venue make this a doozy of a gig.

Quack Quack + Nitkowski + Aye Aye

19:30 26/06/2010

(Saturday 26th June / Doors 7.30 / £6/5 advance)

Can you say Kraut? Working their way around a melody then a groove, then a melody again these three Leeds boys (featuring members of Bilge Pump), in absorbing and acknowledging everything from dub, jazz, funk, and electronic music, subvert all tidy enclosures of prog-this or post-that and debut album Slow as an Eyeball sure does rock with a capital K.

Nitkowski are a hard bunch to pin down. We say Math-Jazz two guitar, nae bass assault w/ Post-Rocky breakdowns. Rock Sound say: “Spiderweave atonal guitar licks and virtuoso drum rolls within fluid time signatures” Band says: “definitely not noise or Jazz”. Make your own mind up.

Now featuring the mysterious Aye Aye too!

Tunes in bar ‘til 1am from DJ Poughkeepsie Megasailor.
