sicTonight! I’m so pathetically indie I’ll go and see any band, however tenously, connected to John Dwyer (Sic Alps have released records on Dwyer’s Castle face label, SA’s Matt Hartman was briefly in the Coachwhips and is currently in Yikes), but Sic Alps are great in any old way you choose. They’re on Siltbreeze and they have tunes amongst the clatter and fuzz, that’s all you need to know. Except: go to the Loose webpage to see what else these fantastic promoters have for you. Yeah!

SIC ALPS are a noisy garage rock trio from San Francisco.

In the past they’ve played as the live band of Cat Power and Howlin Hex, Neil Michael Haggerty’s (Royal Trux) solo project.

The band have just seen their singles compilation ‘Long Way Around to a Shortcut’ re-released by Drag City Records (Will Oldham, Six Organs of Admittance, RTX) and a new full length is in the works, after their last acclaimed LP last year on Siltbreeze, ‘U.S. EZ’.

“..takes woozy primitive pop and transforms it into something simultaneously fragile and coarse and then, suddenly, sublime” – PITCHFORK

“another great record by a pair of folks who seem to crank them out at ever increasing speeds with an alarming efficiency. You can call this stuff ‘lo-fi’ as much as you’d like, but more than anything when the record stops you’ll remember the songs you heard first, weeks later..” – DUSTED

“a bit like Daniel Johnston staggering about in a musical instrument shop with the lights off, rocking out the occasional tune between the clunks and scrapes” – NORMAN RECORDS
