Yeah, it’s The Big Music. There should be some sort of prize for most pretentious review of this sort of music – prize would include having to have the words “shimmering walls of glissando-drenched emsemble beauty” or whatever carved into the winner’s forehead. Bear in mind Efterklang are actually very good and in the plush balcony environs of The Globe will be especially so – certain people in Cardiff go all misty-eyed at the mention of the Danish band’s last visit to the capital (in the equally lovely Point), where big hearted, slightly kooky tunes were mixed with trousers you could hold an aquarium in. Huggable scenes. This gig is preceded by a showing of the film AN ISLAND, which will also be shown at Bristol’s ace Cube Cinema, sadly minus any live performance (though the band will be introducing the film and doing a little DJing). An Island By Vincent Moon & Efterklang<\/strong><\/p>\n

A very special screening of the new film by one of the most on it film-makers of recent years Vincent Moon (La Blogoth\u00e8que) and Danish wundergroup Efterklang (4AD). What makes this even more glittering and special is the band will be at The Cube to talk, play records and intro the film. It is free and exciting and that is how the makes want it.<\/p>\n

Vincent Moon: An Island is not similar to any other film I have done with bands or artists. This is a collaboration on a deeper level. I\u2019m hoping this film can push the boundaries between images and sounds, resulting in a hybrid, a film in between genres.<\/p>\n

About An Island: In August 2010, French filmmaker Vincent Moon and Efterklang’s 8 piece-live band met up on an island in the Danish country side. The objective was to shoot a film. A film with the same length as an album, and a film full of performances, experiments and collaborations.<\/p>\n

Over an intense period of 4 days, Efterklang collaborated with more than 200 local musicians, kids and parents, creating new performances and interpretations of songs from their Magic Chairs album. It was all filmed by Vincent Moon who same time conducted several filmic and musical experiments with Efterklang as his dedicated play mates.<\/p>\n
