This time brought to you with those dapper bastards Lesson No.1, whose journo day jobs provide the added bonus of being able to write\u00a0proper informative promotional\u00a0guff, like below. Read that, but not before taking in these beyond-important messages: Drum Eyes<\/strong> feature DJ Scotch Egg plus various members of Boredoms and Trencher and make madly dayglo noise versions of\u00a0Krauty prog nonsense. They will wash you in joyous waves of\u00a0double drumming volume\u00a0and make you glad to be alive. See also: H. Hawkline<\/strong>, whose recent album is mysterious, gently weird, and one of the best of the year (and who kicks it up several rock notches live), and Bear-Man<\/strong>, three musicians ex of great local bands and making a free-improv racket for their debut show. LESSON NO.1 + THE JOY COLLECTIVE PRESENT:<\/p>\n

DRUM EYES
\nAs regular attendees at our shows (Sid and Doris Bonkers) may know, we \u2665 the man who calls himself DJ SCOTCH EGG and put him on all the time. We didn\u2019t in 2010, but we start 2011 off with the first Cardiff show for DRUM EYES, his awesome Krautrock-meets-noise ensemble in which he plays his trusty Gameboys alongside members of other bands including BOREDOMS and TRENCHER. Live they are towering and hypnotic, yet also sunny and rippling. For fans of Boredoms, FUCK BUTTONS, SHIT+SHINE, HAWKWIND. Debut album out on the UPSET THE RHYTHM label. http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/drumeyes<\/a><\/p>\n

H. HAWKLINE
\nA nice Cardiff-based man called Huw, who also plays in MEANS HEINZ and SWEET BABOO\u2019s band, is joined by pals (Sweet Baboo himself) who electrify his cosmic instrumental folk songs into gnarly Kraut-ish psychedelic epics. This is showcased on an LP called \u2018A Cup Of Salt\u2019, out now (in wicked limited numbers) on the SHAPE label. http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/hhawkline<\/a><\/p>\n

BEAR-MAN
\nA Cardiff-based trio who are playing their debut show. They feature ex\/current members of MARTINI HENRY RIFLES and BROWN WINGS, but don\u2019t sound much like those bands. Exciting free improv guitar-drum-knobs blowouts \u2013 think, let\u2019s say, ULTRALYD, AUFGEHOBEN, THE DEAD C, SUNBURNED to kick you off \u2013 are the name of the game. They have a cassette release on Cardiff\u2019s PHANTOMHEAD label (who are rad, check \u2018em http:\/\/phantomhead.blogspot.com<\/a>) coming soon. http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/bearmanbearman<\/a><\/p>\n
