We’re delighted to bring em back to Cardiff for the first time in over 7 years.

They have released 7 albums on US indie labels Bloodshot and Yep-Rock, a double live album (featuring assistance from Steve Albini, Jon Spencer, Garth Hudson, Gary Louris, Neko Case), recorded an imaginary soundtrack album and have backed Jon Langford (The Mekons), Jon Doe (X), Neko Case (New Pornographers) and Andre Williams on full album projects too. The real deal, The Sadies are a working band only intent on making fine music because it’s what they do.

If you’ve not had the fortune of seeing them before, you’re in for a treat. The Sadies pick up where bands like the Byrds and The Band left off, incorporating elements of country, surf, sixties pop, psychedelia and garage rock to make an ace noise which is unlike anyone else. This years ‘Darker Circles’ album is the culmination of much hard graft, a stunning piece of country-noir which again raises the bar. It got them a Polaris Music Awards (Canada’s Grammy’s/Mercury Music Prize) nomination for best album alongside efforts by Broken Social Scene, Caribou, Owen Pallett and The Besnard Lakes.

Anyway, enough of this waffle, these guys make breathtakingly good music and are awesome live so get yourself along.

“Grounded in eerie country blues, Byrds-style folk rock and brain-rattling fuzztone freakout, Toronto’s Sadies are on the top of their game here”. It is very very good indeed because the four gentlemen responsible for the playing love these sounds. They love the reverb-y twang , the crash of cymbals, the spray of notes, the organic ethos of a band in a room making a sound that as of and in itself can fill the grooves of a piece of vinyl with magic. And, most importantly, the three tracks are fantastic tunes”.
