Hawkline \/ Jon Fazal : 10 Feet Tall, Cardiff : 11.10.10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Mice-Parade1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8113\" title=\"Mice Parade\" src=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Mice-Parade1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Mice-Parade1.jpg 450w, https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Mice-Parade1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some names can be deceptive, and some may serve to dissuade you from giving a band a fair shake.\u00a0 The uninitiated might be forgiven for flicking past <strong>Mice Parade<\/strong> in the CD racks or listings pages, fearing wearisome twee affectations, but hold up; it&#8217;s only an anagram.\u00a0 Adam Pierce, letters unscrambled, is and has been Mice Parade across eight albums and many collaborations since 1999, and his warm, textured and experimental hybrid of post-rock, electronic patterns and chamber-pop songwriting rewards a little patient attention.<\/p>\n<p>As with Caribou\/Manitoba, Pierce has embellished Mice Parade&#8217;s sound gradually from earlier all-instrumental albums, to a point where 2007&#8217;s <em>Mice Parade <\/em>and the new <em>What It Means To Be Left-Handed<\/em> are characterised as much by his hushed vocals and poppier melodies as the familiar layered, rhythmic acoustic strums, propulsive drumming and vibes which now back them.\u00a0 The elements of\u00a0 Chinese and African instrumentation Pierce has featured going back to 2001&#8217;s <em>Mokoondi<\/em> remain too, along with his thirst for collaboration with the likes of Jim O&#8217;Rourke, M\u00fam and Laetitia Sadier, and the new album&#8217;s an intriguing listen for this reason.\u00a0 Live, Mice Parade promise an all-out double-drummer take on Pierce&#8217;s intricate, mixed-live studio project, and it should be cracking.\u00a0 Think Tortoise, Eno, Can, Jim O&#8217;Rourke, Caribou etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Silje-Nes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8112\" title=\"Silje Nes\" src=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Silje-Nes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Silje-Nes.jpg 350w, https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/Silje-Nes-300x246.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>FatCat labelmate <strong>Silje Nes<\/strong> shares the bill with Mice Parade on this tour.\u00a0 With a voice not far removed from past Mice Parade collaborator Kristin out of M\u00fam, it&#8217;s easy to imagine the Norwegian&#8217;s spooky, music-box pop working wonders alongside them.\u00a0 All laptop flurries, looped acoustica and spindly, cooed vocals, she comes across like an unmistakably Scandinavian take on Juana Molina&#8217;s densely involving sound.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/H-Hawkline.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8111\" title=\"H Hawkline\" src=\"http:\/\/jonnyjaniero.wpengine.com\/thejoycollectivewp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/H-Hawkline.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"479\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/H-Hawkline.png 600w, https:\/\/jonnyjaniero.com\/thejoycollective\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/H-Hawkline-262x300.png 262w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Huw Evans&#8217; <strong>H.
