Says our new boy Rhys: \u00a0Sydney three piece experimentalists PVT (formerly known as Pivot) are an exciting and twisted take on a traditional post punk band. The band’s first international release ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’ in 2008 on Warp Records made the world take notice. The instrumental album is rich with electronic melody, reminiscent of Jean Michel Jarre at times, and improv guitar rants that blast you with punk rock vigor.\u00a0 The aftermath of this release saw the band tour relentlessly across Europe and the UK in 2008\/09. I got to see them in the Green Man Festival 2009 and they were intense; being a huge fan of their label mates Battles I was advised by many to check them out and they did not disappoint. I was in my element, such a huge sound from a three piece should get any music lover excited. In 2010 the band reinvented themselves (due to legal reasons) by removing the vowels from their name and also with the release\u00a0of new album ‘Church With No Magic’. Taking reinvention even further, the band embraced a new musical ethos by adding some interesting and powerful vocals to their ever evolving sound. I can’t wait to see what these guys do next. PVT will be showcasing their new material at Start The Bus in Bristol with support from Electricity In Our Homes and Nova Robotics for the unbelievable price of \u00a34. Now that is value for money.<\/p>\n

PVT have returned with new album \u2018Church With No Magic\u2019, the album that builds upon the anthemic synth-driven instrumental movements for which PVT is renowned, along with the power of their visceral live shows. The sound has been brilliantly tempered and expanded by the trio into brooding, melancholic experimental pop \u2013 an amalgam of rock synthesis, propulsive rhythms and huge melodic strength. It\u2019s a dark and expansive sound that PVT has made substantial movements on this record to make their own.<\/p>\n
