Promotions ride again…

23 October 2009 in Le Pub

The Outsiders
Since forming in June 2008 The Outsiders have accomplished more than most bands do their whole careers. Releasing their self titled EP at their first show in July 2008, The Outsiders quickly became a favourite in the predominantly hardcore punk rock scene in their home town of Wellington, New Zealand. Heading out on tour only 2 months after the band formed seems like madness to most but its this sort of madness that The Outsiders thrive on. Having toured their home country half a dozen times, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands & Belgium, The Outsiders now have their sites set on England and Wales. With comparisons to Hot Water Music, Against Me! and Jawbreaker, The Outsiders are most at home onstage. Having three lead vocalists adds to the stage show. Once they return home to New Zealand the Outsiders will be releasing their debut album.
– Tour so far, crazy shit! Living in vans, drinking constantly, partying all night. We’ve also had some great shows along the way. Highlights would have to be headling over The Landmines in Bremen and playing to a sold out show to 400 people in Amsterdam. We’re currently hanging out in Berlin and hopefully playing the Ramones Museum this weekend. Cant wait to hit up Wales!
Don’t Tread On Spiders
Don’t Tread On Spiders are without a doubt one of the South Wales scene’s most important alternative rock bands right now! Pedalling an eclectic catalogue of art rock, anti-folk and pop the Spiders have amassed an impressive CV including acclaim from NME (Number 1 Breaking Band), a critically praised EP (Recommended by Artrocker Magazine), a string of radio appearances and songs used by both national television and independent filmmakers alike!

The group formed in Cardiff 2007 from previous members of lo-fi punk hipsters The Days. Since then the group consisting of drummer Max Chan, bass/ flute Caitlin Davies and guitar player Sonny Day have experimented with various exiting projects in realms such as music, art, photography and even the horror movie genre! As Sonny sometimes pens the group, “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Band” have been compared with the likes of Pavement, Spoon, Brendon Benson and fellow Welsh art rockers Joy Formidable. As the former groups would suggest though, DTOS have a distinctive alternative American twist that sets them apart from many other groups in the scene today.

Don’t Tread On Spiders’ hotly anticipated next EP and music video will be out in the shops as of January 2010. Expect much more in the way of catchy tunes, proto-rock riffs and dam fine dirty music.

The R-Kives
We started in febuary 2008 from three amigos from the mighty Newbridge and aquired the roar drum and bass sounds along the way. We are made up of “Mr Soft – Damien” the singer with the sharp hair cut and vocals to match, “Ratty – Chris” the guitarist who never fails to perform 😉 “B.C. – Kieran” the guitarist who adds the grit and shit, “OB- James” on the low tones, finally we have “PoodleHead – Gethin” on the skins. We are tearing up South Wales and on our way to bigger and better things
Give Me Memphis
Give Me Memphis have been in existence since sometime in the mists of
the eighties.
They are probably the longest-running Newport musical ensemble…that is
to say, the longest in continuous existence without splitting up. Not
for them the indignitude of “farewell gigs” and “hey we are back” gigs.
They have simply kept going, like a hamster on a wheel. You might think,
and one could hardy blame you, that this would render their musical
efforts obsolete , but no! What goes around comes around, and the music
of Give Me Memphis is currently fashionable. Think Arctic Chiefs, think
Kaiser Monkeys, or any other of the current crop of indie landfill. Then
think again.Their influences were contemporaneous with Give Me Memphis,
who are not unconnected with those Leeds/punk origins, and GMM were
actually there at the time. And here they are.
