Firmly established as one of Norwich\u2019s top break-out bands. Their debut release \u2018Means To An End\u2019 was named single of the week in The Guardian and has recieved airplay and high praise from the BBC\u2019s Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens.<\/p>\n<p>A session at the BBC\u2019s Maida Vale Studios and being selected by Skins producer Alex Hancock to play the regional leg of the live tour in 2008 have all since helped raise the bands profile. Signed to East Anglian independant NR ONE RECORDS the group continue to impress all those who witness their energetic brand of punk pop. More recently, the band has finished recording their debut album \u2018Ourknife Yourback\u2019 with grammy award nominated Andy Gill (Gang of Four) and Subways\/Big Life producer Jon Gray.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe tag \u2018pop punk\u2019 for one generation at least always conjure up images of Blink 182 and Sum 41, yet the type of pop punk that The Brownies juggle up is far removed from this. Its shouty-faced pop punk thats packed with Riot Grrrrl\u2019s bite, and been trapped under an avalanche of glowing pop hooks on the escape. Some bands would bite off their spouses fingers to have one song as good as \u2018Cougar\u2019; The Brownies deliver an energetic entire sets worth. Norwich may have given us Kaito and Bearsuit, but that city has now given us another batch of delightful ear candy which those missing Be Your Own Pet should get extremely excited about.\u201d<\/em> &#8211; <strong>Artrocker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe Brownies could be Xerox Girls\u2019 attitudinal, imperiously cool nieces and nephews.
