Remember: everyone in the Sixties was all swirly and multicoloured, as in the photo below. The law got repealed in 1974. So this is a way cool ‘6os garage night apparently, though I’d wager it’ll be teasing on a few other decades. Port Talbot’s Fire Chief 5<\/strong>, with their crisp and twee Byrdsian whimsy, may be the most amber-frozen of the bands here, but look to the Hangmen<\/strong> for proper living dinosaur thrills. The Swansea group make instrumental surf music from the top drawer, the one marked ‘superretropartytwang’. Potential brilliance that stretches back to Agatha Christie<\/a>‘s era of innocence. And give it up for Italy’s Piatcions<\/strong>, who make a sumptuous guitar racket that adds 90s shoegaze to their stoned psych rambling. Debut album ‘Senseless>Sense’ reminds of the Dutch band Donkey for some reason. Um, it’s a compliment.<\/p>\n
